Nobility crown Magni GriffiDie Familie stammt aus der Lombardei und genauer gesagt aus Bellano, einem Land am Comer See, von dem es im 16. Jahrhundert nach Ligurien kam. Der Abt Emanuele, Gerini von Fivizzano, erinnert in seinen historischen Erinnerungen an Lunigiana daran, dass Bernardo, Generalkommissar von Sarzana, vom Kaiser Ferdinando I. mit einem sehr edlen Diplom und vielen Vorrechten ausgezeichnet wurde. In diesem am 23. Juni 1564 in Wien datierten Diplom heißt es unter anderem: "Familie Vestra de Magno semper antiquissima et iam inde a multis saeculis nobilitatis titulis et fascibus insignita fuisse dicitur quam nos et talem agnovimus". 1576 wurde es dem Hotel "Georgius Magnus de Spedia" zugeschrieben. Die Familie fügte Griffi zu ihrem Nachnamen für Aurelios Hochzeit mit Anna Socini Griffi hinzu, die am 7. Dezember 1622 stattfand. Die Griffi waren um 1300 von Pisa nach Genua gekommen, tatsächlich in der Kirche von S. Francesco di Castelletto (jetzt zerstört) Grab von Antonio Griphus mit der oben genannten Waffe des Griffin unter dem Datum des 17. Dezember 1350. So die Gräber von Giovanni de Griffis de Pisis im Mai 1414 und von Cosimo im Jahr 1450. Der Historiker Giustiniani erwähnt Filippo Grifo di Sarzana, der in 1500, berühmter Rechtsleser in Rom und Pisa. 1528 wurde der Adel dem Grillo Hotel zugeschrieben: Bartolomeo, Agostino, Stefano, Giovanni Battista Marcantonio Griffo.
