Nobility crown Magni GriffiThe family originates from Lombardy and more precisely from Bellano, a land located on Lake Como, from which it came to Liguria in the 16th century. The Abbot Emanuele, Gerini of Fivizzano in his historical memories of Lunigiana recalls that Bernardo, Commissioner General of Sarzana was decorated by the emperor Ferdinando I with a very noble diploma and many prerogatives. This Diploma dated Vienna on 23 June 1564 thus states among other things "Vestra de Magno family semper antiquissima et iam inde a multis saeculis nobilitatis titulis et fascibus insignita fuisse dicitur quam nos et talem agnovimus". In 1576 it was ascribed to the hotel "Georgius Magnus de Spedia". The family added Griffi to their surname for Aurelio's wedding with Anna Socini Griffi, which took place on 7 December 1622. The Griffi had come from Pisa to Genoa around 1300, in fact in the Church of S. Francesco di Castelletto (now destroyed) there was sepulcher of Antonio Griphus with the aforementioned weapon of the Griffin, under the date of 17 December 1350. Thus the sepulchres of Giovanni de Griffis de Pisis in May 1414 and of Cosimo in 1450. The historian Giustiniani makes mention of Filippo Grifo di Sarzana, living in 1500, famous law reader in Rome and Pisa. In 1528 they were ascribed to the nobility in the Albergo Grillo: Bartolomeo, Agostino, Stefano, Giovanni Battista Marcantonio Griffo. The family is registered in the Nob gold book. Ital. And in El. Uff. Nob. Ital. With the titles of marquis (mpr.), Genoese patrician (m.), Noble of Sarzana (mf.), Noble of SRI (mf.), In the person of Giuseppe, Angelo Agostino, Giuseppe. ...
