Chiara for her own nobility and for noble relatives, she gave distinguished men especially in the field of law. Vincenzo, jurisconsult of exceptional value, was President of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, and, after the unification of the Kingdom of Italy, first President of the Court of Cassation of Naples. He was also Minister without portfolio with Cavour, until the death of the great statesman. In 1860 he had the honor of solemnly proclaiming the result of the popular vote for the annexation of the Two Sicilies to the Kingdom of Italy. They still reached the highest ranks of the judiciary and belonged to the Supreme College: Domenico, Ilario, Nicola, Vincenzo and Francesco, the latter still living with the honorary rank of First President of the Court of Cassation at rest. Special remembrance should be given to the young engineer Ugo, lieutenant aviator, who, after having given countless tests of value, lost his life in aerial combat in Valsugana on 3 July 1916 and was decorated, in memory, with a gold medal for military value. The heroic gesture was illustrated to the troops, with a moving re-enactment, by Gabriele d'Annunzio. The family is today awarded in its first-born branch, the titles of duke on the surname, with seniority of 1722, and of Marquis of Marescotti, with seniority of 1719, and is registered with the said titles in the Golden Book of Italian Nobility and in the 'Noble Official List. ...
