Bedonni, quite rare, is specific of the Modena and Bologna area, of Pavullo nel Frignano, Zocca and Vignola in the Modena area and of Argelato in the Bologna area, it should be a dialectal alteration of the medieval name Beldonus (Beldono), attributed to his own son by happy parents of his arrival, name derived from the Italian translation of the Greek name Eudore, Eudora, the latter was the name of a nymph of the nereids (daughter of Nereo).
