BUSI | BUSO | BUSON | BUSONE | BUSONI

Busi is very widespread both in Lombardy and in Emilia, Buso is specific to Veneto, Padua, Venice and Treviso in particular, Buson is typically Venetian, particularly from Padua, Vicenza and Rovigoto, Busone is practically unique, Busoni seems specific of the band that from Florence arrives to Livorno, could all derive from a variation of the Germanic name Boso declined Bosoni (see Busan). Traces of these surnames can be found for example in 1541 with the soldier Stepano Busi among the forces of the Venetian Republic under the command of capitaneo Alessio Gambiera. Important figures were the painter Giovanni Busi (circa 1480 -? 1547) originally from the Val Brembana and the composer Ferruccio Busoni (1866-1924).
