CAIOLA | CAIOLI | CAIOLO

Caiola seems to have two strains, one from Sicily and one from Mantua, Caioli appears to be Florentine, while rare Caiolo is probably Sicilian, the origin of these surnames is uncertain; Lombard lineage could derive from the toponym Caiolo (SO), for all these surnames there remains the possibility of a derivation from a diminutive of the Latin noble name Caius (Caiolus).
