Campli is typical of Francavilla al Mare and Ortona in the Theatine area, Di Campli, much more widespread, is specific of the Theatine, of Lanciano, Ortona and Castel Frentano, and of Pescara, should derive from the name of the town of Campli in the Teramo, probable place of origin of the founders, which could date back to the time of the looting of Campli by the Bourbon troops in the XVIIIth century, looting that forced many inhabitants to take shelter in the nearby Theatine.
