FANCIULLETTI

Absolutely very rare. additions provided by Roberto Milani exclusive of the Grosseto area (area around Monte Amiata), it is said to be linked to the noble Piccolomini family. It seems that from extramarital relations of male members of the Piccolomini family with women of the people numerous children were born (obviously not recognized as their own by the Piccolomini), which a pious Opera welcomed among the orphans. The locals called these children Fanciulletti and from there the origin of the surname of the same name. Finally it seems that later there have also been disputes between the Piccolomini and the Fanciulletti regarding some unclear testamentary dispositions concerning land and building possessions.
