Geraldi, very rare, has a stock in the Crotone area between Isola di Capo Rizzuto and Santa Severina, and one in Agrigento in Sciacca, Geraldini, absolutely rare, it would seem Roman, Geraldino, Geraldo and Ielardi are almost unique, they should all derive from the medieval name Germanic Gerhald or from Norman Geraldus or Giraldus of which we have an example in Chronicon Clarevallense of 1192: "... Anno Domini 1170 finente, abbas Claraevallis Poncius, factus est Claromontensis episcopus in Auvergne. Abbas quoque de Fossanova domnus Geraldus, in abbatem Claraevallis est assumptus. Hic est de Alvernia oriundus .... ".
