MEDEOT | MEDVED | MEDVES

Medeot, decidedly Friulian, is typical of the Gorizia area, of San Lorenzo Isontino, Gorizia, Mossa, Mariano del Friuli, Farra d'Isonzo, Gradisca d`Isonzo, Cormons and Trieste, Medved, absolutely rare in the area of Cividale in udinese, as well as Medves, all should derive from the Slovenian term medved (bear) directly or through dialectal deformations of Italian or Slavic type. Traces of these surnames have been found in Mersino (UD) since the 1600s.
