Morini is widespread in the west of Lombardy and in the Alessandria area, in Emilia and Romagna and in Tuscany, Morino is typical of Piedmont, derived from the late Latin name Morinus of which we have an example in the Diplomatic Code of medieval Lombardy under the year 1188, : "... to mane Barona, to suprascripti monasterii meridie, id est Morinus de Montano, to sero via, upstream item suprascripti monasterii ...". We find ancient traces of this surname in Mornico Losana (PV) since 1400 where the Morinis are among the oldest families.
