NISI | NISO

Nisi is present as a leopard spot throughout Italy, with stocks in Sicily, Puglia, Campania, Lazio, Marche and Romagna, Niso, extremely rare and typical of the Salento area, deriving from the Greek name Nisus, we remember the famous Eurialo and Niso di virgiliana memoria: "... Undique conveniunt leucri mixtique Sicani, Nisus et Euryalus primi ..."; we find traces of these surnames in Puglia in the second half of the 1500s with the reverend Don Paladino Nisi, attorney general of the Chapter of Ceglie Messapica (BR).
