Peverelli is typical of northern Milan and Como, Como, Grandate, Fino Mornasco, Pognano Lario, Moltrasio and Villa Guardia in the Como area and Milan, Misinto, Cogliate and Meda in the Milan area and Saronno in the Varese area, Peverello, extremely rare, has presences in the Cuneo area and the Imperia area, Peveri, very rare, is typical of the Lodomian South of Lodi, of Lodi and Orio Litta and above all of Piacenza and Piacenza, of Bobbio and Coli, they should derive, directly or through hypocoristic forms, from a nickname linked to dialect word pever (pepper), but it is also possible that they derive from nicknames based on the archaic Lombard term peverella, a type of grass from whose roots we get a red tint used to dye fabrics.
