SCIUSCO

Sciusco is typically Apulian, of Cerignola and Foggia in the Foggia and Barletta in the Barese. Additions provided by Stefano Ferrazzi taking into account its provenance (more typically Apulian), the Sciusco surname seems to arise from an adaptation of the Slavic surname Susko (with a variant in Susko), which, by means of the suffix-ko, should reflect a Hypochoristic of the original Susa, also known in the form Susa (see SUSCA). Now, about the etymology of these surnames, it is not clear what the meaning of Susa or Susa and, consequently, the Hypochoristic Susko and Susko: At first reading, in fact, one can think of a connection with the adjective Susa, which, to the letter, It means dry, dry or, figuratively, skinny, slender (see skinny). If this interpretation is not to be discarded, however, it is still added a clarification concerning SUSA and variants: In the context of Eastern Europe, surnames such as Susa, Susko, etc also suggest the Slavic onomastics, in particular to the potential names of Short-form person-by way of example, we think of names such as Sasa (short for Aleksandar), Misa (short for Mihael), Joza (short for Josip), etc. Following this reasoning, then, it is not impossible that Susa or Susa was a name of person in ancient times-originally an abbreviation of a person's name-and hence, then, could derive the hypochoristic in Susko or Susko, according to a principle highly It can be found in Slavic onomastics (very prolific from the point of view of abbreviations and hypochoral forms). Integrations provided by Giovanni Vezzelli according to Minervini 446 Sciusco is a variant of Scioscia (cf.)
