Zuelli has two stocks, one in the Brescia area of Mairano, Ponte di Legno and Brescia, and one in Parma and the Reggio area in Quattro Castella, Gualtieri and Cadelbosco di Sopra in the Reggio area, it should derive from a dialectal nickname, originated from the Lombard Emilian archaic zuèll (a kind of twisted tool, usually made of iron, which was used to prevent the wheels from coming out of the axles of the wagons), perhaps indicating that the founders made the carters the craft (wagon drivers).
