Very rare Bagatin probably of Venetian origin is typical of the Rovigoto, Bagatini is unique, should derive from the archaic Venetian dialectal term Bagatin, the bagatin was a coin corresponding to a twelfth of a Venetian coin, it was formerly understood also as a little thing and referred to people as an insignificant: "no you are worth a bagatin" = you are worthless, there are traces of this surname in Venice since 1600, in a kind of Venetian census of 1642 we read about a certain Agostin Bagatin, artesano de S. Canciano.
