Brizzolara seems to be a specific Genoese with a secondary stock in the Parma and Piacenza areas, Brizzolari is distributed along the route from Genoa to the Padua area through Piacenza, Lodi, Milan, Bergamo, Brescia and Verona, additions provided by Giacomo Ganza Villa di Tirano (SO) Brizzolara is the original surname, the most common among the two, especially in the province of Genoa. It derives from the toponym Brizzolara, part of the municipality of Borzonasca (GE). The surname has spread, according to the ORLANDI first to Tornolo, in the Parma area and then in Lombardy. The Brizzolaras were originally political refugees dedicated to itinerant trade. Later the name was changed to Brizzolari. Equally very sporadic the presence of the two surnames in the Piacenza area and in the Parma area. The first Brizzolari arrived in Lombardy settled in Pasturo in Valsassina and then in Brianza and elsewhere.
