Cesetti has a stock in the Piceno area in Montegiorgio, Serviglisano, Montappone and Sant'Elpidio a Mare, with a discreet presence also in the Macerata area of Mogliano, a second strain presents it in Lazio, Rome and Tuscania in Viterbo, Cesi, very rare, seems to have two stocks, one in Brindisi and one in Lazio, Cesini has a stock in Ancona and Recanati in Macerata, one in Rome and a very small one in Trieste, they all seem to derive, directly or through various hypocoristic forms, from the Latin Gens Cesia, according to some hypotheses the original zone would be Cesi, an Umbrian castle from which Pietro Cesi would have fled progenitor of the noble Roman family, others even trace the origins back to such a Ceso or Ciso, son of Temeno king of Mycenae and Argo (1190- 1100 BC). Bishops, Cardinals, Priors, Counts, Dukes and Marquises belonged to the Cesi family, both in Lazio and in Umbria. (see also CESINARO)
