CIATTI | CIATTO

Ciatti is a typical surname of Tuscany, of Prato, Florence and Scandicci in the Florentine and of Siena and Pistoia, and of Lazio, of Rome, Rieti and Viterbo in particular, Ciatto has a stock in Padua and one in eastern Sicily, could derive from an apheretic form of a hypocoristic of the name Felice, from Felice to Feliciatto and therefore for apheresis Ciatto and Ciatti meaning in the plural form the family of Ciatto, the probability that this derivation is correct is also supported by the remarkable recurrence of the name Felice within the Ciatti families. Traces of these surnames can be found, for example, in an act of the year 1416 in Pisa, where a bookbinder named Niccolò, son of a certain Ciatto of Florence, is quoted: "Actum Pisis in studio early solar energy domus habitationis mey Iuliani notarii suprascripti, posita in chapel sancti Sebastiani kinziche, presentibus Geminiano Vinario quondam Iohannis de cappella sancte Christine, Niccolao alias Niccolo ligator quondam Ciatti de Florentia, Pisarum dweller in the chapel sancti Sebastiani suprascripta ...
