CONTE | CONTI | CONTIN | CONTINI | CONTINO | LO CONTE | LOCONTE

Very widespread throughout Italy, Conte and Conti, with a predominance in the north, Sicily and Sardinia for the second, Contin is specific to the Veneto and Friuli, in particular to the Paduan area, but also to the Venetian and Udine areas, Contini is highly represented in Sardinia, but it is still present in a significant way in the rest of Italy, Contino has a main nucleus in Sicily, but it also presents strains in the Salento, in the Foggia, in Campania and in the Lazio, Lo Conte has a main stock in Irpinia in Ariano Irpino (AV) with secondary presences also in Rome, in Foggia and in Sicily in Mussomeli (CL) in particular, Loconte is instead typical of Andria (BA) and of Bari. These surnames should derive directly or through hypocorisms or from the medieval name Conte, or from nicknames linked to the fact that they are the progenitors connected in some way with the Counts, or because at their service, or because of attitudes, or physical similarity, or for other similar reasons.

CONTE | CONTEROSITO | ROSITO

Conterosito, absolutely rare, it would seem specific to Matera, as well as the almost unique Count Rosito. additions provided by Salvatore Conterosito The surname Conterosito arrives in Italy in Tolve (PZ) from Buenos Aires in Argentina, where my grandfather Conte Rosito (Jose) Giuseppe was born. Conte Rosito Jose had six children all born in Tolve (PZ): Donato (died in Tolve); Ferdinando (died in England), Rocco Giuseppe (my father died in Chieri); Antonio (died in Matera), Umberto (died in Matera) and Vittoria (died in Gorgonzola) the only daughter. All the Count Rosito or Conterosito, by mistake in transcription, are first and second or third degree cousins.
