MUSETI | MUSETTI | MUSETTO | MUSSETTI | MUSSETTO

Museti would seem unique and is probably due to an error in the transcription of Musetti, which has a stock between the La Spezia, the Massese and the Lucca, and one in the Roman, Musetto is almost unique, Mussetti, typically Lombard, it would seem of the Bergamo, Mussetto, very rare, it is from the Cuneo area, they should all derive from modifications of the medieval Latin name Musetus, of which we have an example in Pavia in the second half of 1100 with Musetus domini regis Einrici notarius. Traces of these surnames can be found, for example, in Sondalo in Valtellina in a deed of 1640 where the city councilor Isacco was Francesco Subscriber and, in the first half of the 18th century, an Isaac was Gasparino Musetti of Sommacologna.
