Tiranzi, absolutely rare, is Milanese, Tiranzoni, almost unique, is certainly Lombard, perhaps Bergamasco, could derive from the toponym Tirano (SO), Tirinzoni is specific to Talamona (SO), should derive directly or through accreitive forms From the Renaissance name Tirantus, quite widespread in Spain, of which we read for example in this book of 1523: "... Tum et de Pestiferis libris, cuiusmodi sunt in Hispania: Amadisus, Splandianus, Florisandus, Tirantus, Tristanus, quarum ineptiarum nullus est finir; Quotidie prodeunt novae: Coelestina Laena, Nequitiarum parens, Carcer Amorum.... ". Additions provided by Gigi It seems that Tiranzoni is a surname of Origin Valtellinese, with source a Tartano of Morbegno (SO). It would be the old form of the surname Tirinzoni, now the surname of Talamona, a large village in the lower Valtellina, almost joined to Morbegno, located about ten kilometres from Lake Como. The Tiranzoni were "descended" to Talamona from the mountain of Taratano towards 1700 "renamed" Tirinzoni. Hard to think that Tirinzoni derives from the name of the town of Tirano (about fifty kilometers to the east). This village became in the middle of the ' 500 fair pole, has never "produced" surnames, unlike other neighboring countries: Ponte, Bouquet, Grosio, Tovo or Bormio.
