TRUDDA

Trudda, absolutely rare, is typical of Gallura and neighboring Nuorese, should derive from a nickname based on the Sardinian term Logodurese Trudda (ladle). Integrations provided by Giuseppe Concas TRUDDA: Trudda, Turudda (see the surname Turudda), Tirudda, Trulla, Tulla, Turla, Turra (in Campidanese) was formerly a wooden spoon = the ladle, which is now generally made of metal. Do not confuse SA Turudda or turra or Trudda = Ladle (for the shape), with "Su Cragallu", also a large wooden spoon, shaped like a spoon. I'm going to give you a spoon in the head. Ninu Truddòni = Nino Northern Shoveler = Nino Grassone, because he's a friend of the ladle! From Latin Trulla = spoon. But in Sardinian language Trulla is also a voice (Greek Latin) with the meaning of vase, measure, Vault, Dome. Trullas is also the name of an ancient vanished village, in whose territory was the Benedictine monastery (Camaldolese) of St. Nicholas of Trullas (as from the homonymous Condaghe: CSNT, XI °, XIII ° century). The village was abandoned towards 1350, after a long period of famine and because of the war between the Kingdom of Arborea and the Catalan Aragonese kingdom of Sardinia. We have not found the surname Trudda in the old cards, where it is present Trulla and Trullas, as place name and village names. Currently the surname Trudda is present in only 8 Italian municipalities, of which 7 in Sardinia: San Teodoro 9, Budoni 8, Loiri Porto San Paolo 5, Olbia 3, etc.
