BAZZOLA | BAZZOLI

Bazzola, almost unique, is from the Cremona, Mantua area, Bazzoli would seem to be specific to the area that includes Brescia and Trentino in particular, but also Mantua and Verona, with very small strains in the Udine, Reggio Emilia, Forlì and Roman, Bazzolo, much less widespread, is typical of Padua, Padua and Legnaro, with some presence in the Latin area, probably the result of Venetian emigration during the Pontina reclamation, it would seem to have two possible origins, the first from a hypocoristic form referred to capostipiti with the protruding chin (bazza), the second from an archaic Venetian dialectal term bazòlo for alticcio, or even for crazy.
