Brunengo has a small stock in Turin and Mondovì in the Cuneo area, has an important stock in Imperia and in the Imperia area at Pieve di Teco and Chiusanico, a stock in Genoa and Albenga in the Savona area, it could derive from the medieval Burgundian name Brunengus or Bruningus di which we have an example in the Diplomatic Code of medieval Lombardy in the year 986 in Lodi: "... Andreas, episcopus episcopio sancte Laudensis Ecclesie, nec non et Adam qui et Bruningus et Gotefredus seu Raginpaldus germanis, filii quondam Rikerii, here professi sunt ipsis germanis ex nacione suorum legem vivere Langobardorum ....
