FRANCHETTI | FRANCHETTO | FRANCHI | FRANCHIN | FRANCHINA | FRANCHINI | FRANCHINO | FRANCO | FRANCUCCI | FRANCUCCIO

Franchetti has a stock in the Sondriese, in Ponte in Valtellina, Berbenno di Valtellina and Castione Andevenno, a stock in the Vicenza area at Chiampo, Crespadoro, Brendola and Montecchio Maggiore, and in Albignasego in the Padua area, a stock in the Siena area at Castiglione d'Orcia, Torrita of Siena and Montepulciano, one in Vejano in the Viterbo area and in Rome, Riano and Tivoli in the Roman area, and one in Taurianova in the Reggio area, Franchetto has a Venetian lineage, in Vedelago, Quinto di Treviso and Resana in the Treviso area, Roncà and Monteforte d 'Alpone in the Verona area, Unoad Orgiano and Vicenza in the Vicenza area and in Trebaseleghe in the Paduan area, and a Piedmontese in Ivrea in the Turin area, Franchi and Franchini are widespread throughout central northern Italy, which also has stocks in Naples and between Bari and Taranto, Franchin is decidedly Venetian, especially from Padua and secondly from the Venetian and Trevisano, Franchina seems to have two separate stocks, one in Lombardy and one in Sicily, the Lombard stock is predominantly from Bergamo, diu Casnigo, Gandino and Parre, while the Sicilian stock is from Messina, Galati Mamertino, San Salvatore of Fitalia, Messina, Tortorici, Capo d'Orlando, Castell'Umberto, Capri Leone, Naso, Sinagra, Sant'Agata di Militello and Torrenova, with a secondary lineage also in Palermo, Franchino has a Piedmontese nucleus and some strains between Foggia, Basilicata and Cosenza, Franco is decidedly Panitalian, Francucci would appear to be specific to the central belt that includes Ancona and Macerata, Umbria, L'Aquila and Lazio, Francuccio, practically unique, would seem Piedmontese, they have different origins: they can derive, directly or through hypocoristic forms, from the Latin nomen Francus, from the Germanic name Frank or from a nickname derived from the ethnic ethic frank (belonging to the Frankish nation). In the Bergamo area there are traces of the surname Franchina at least from the end of the 1600s. Additions provided by Leonardo Franchini the surname Franchini appears in notarial deeds in Avio (Trento) since 1565.
