Sedda is widespread throughout Sardinia, it could derive from one of the many localities of the island composed with the word Sedda, such as Sedda ar Baccas, Sedda Is Tovus, Sedda ' and Ortai or many others similar, but it is also possible that derives from nicknames based on Sardinian word Sage (saddle) originated from the activity of Saddler del Capostipite. Additions provided by Giuseppe Concas SEDDA: Sèdda is the saddle. Seddàyu (log.) Seddéri (in camp. From the Catalan seller), is the Sellaio. But Sèdda (Sella) is also the top of a mountain or a hill: with this meaning it is present as place name in the whole territory of Sardinia. For example, the Sella de Diavolo is famous, near the Gulf of Angels in Cagliari (see in the Web-Giuseppe Concas, works by: Rime-Sa Sedda de su Tiaulu). Sella is also the name of two villages missing: the first was part of the Curadorìa of Guilcier, in the realm of the judicial of Arborea, and the Diocese of Santa Giusta. Its remains are located in the countryside of Aidomaggiore. As well as place name, we find it as surname in the ancient medieval maps of the history and language of Sardinia.
