Tadiello is not uncommon typical Veneto, Del Vicentino in particular, Tadiotto, very very rare, is specific to the area between Vicenza and Treviso, may derive from the Latin nomen Tadius, of which we have an example in the Epistle of Cicero to Attic: "... De Tadiana King mecum Tadius locutus est te ita scripsisse, Nihil esse iam, quod laboraretur... ", but it is also possible to derive from the name Taddeus (see Tadè). Hypothesis provided by Nicola Tadiello the surname Tadiello originates from Chiampo (VI). Looking for in fact among the documents of the parish of the country I discovered that already in 1580 gave birth to a certain Tadiello Pietro. The meaning of the surname is still controversial. For some it is of Venetian origin, given the existence of Thaddeus. Others do not believe this rather simplistic explanation. The Tadiello were in ancient times only in Chiampo or neighboring municipalities. Being Chiampo an area where one spoke the Cimbro (German or Danish dialect) it is easy that Tadiello derives from Tadel (Matto). Iello instead was a typical diminutive Veneto. So the correct meaning is little crazy or mattacchione. Additions provided by Giovanni Vezzelli Tadiello and Tadiotto are Venetian surnames deriving from the ancient name Thadè, attested to S. Bonifacio in 1531. Olivieri 152.
