Ancient and noble Tuscan family, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. Originally from Cintoia, now a locality in the municipality of Greve in Chianti, this family moved to Florence in the 15th century and subsequently also branched out to Lucca. Bernando Lorenzi, of Lorenzo, became prior of the city of Florence in 1479 and his descendants, several times, obtained the notary office of the Signoria. The branch that settled in Lucca also stood out for the excellence of its exponents. The clear nobility of this lineage is further confirmed by its presence in some of the most valuable European heraldry works.
