Cagliari family from Mallorca whose news dates back to the 16th century. In 1571 a Gerolamo was councilor of the castle; in 1568 his son Giovanni Gerolamo obtained the hereditary knighthood. In 1594 Tommaso, his son, bought the lordships of Villacidro and Serramanna from the tax authorities and in 1603 obtained the nobility. In 1610 Antonio son of Tommaso had the title of count of Serramanna; he married a Gualbes who brought him the marquisate of Palmas and the baronies of Monastir, Acquafredda and Villaspeciosa. He obtained that in 1627 Villacidro was also raised to the marquisate and in 1632 he purchased the lordship of Planargia from the tax authorities.
