Une famille de Cagliari originaire de Majorque dont les archives remontent au XVIe siècle. En 1571, un Gerolamo était conseiller du château ; en 1568, son fils Giovanni Gerolamo obtint la chevalerie héréditaire. En 1594 Tommaso, son fils, acheta les seigneuries de Villacidro et Serramanna aux autorités fiscales et en 1603 il obtint la noblesse. En 1610, Antonio fils de Tommaso avait le titre de comte de Serramanna ; il épousa une Gualbes qui lui apporta en dot le marquisat de Palmas et les baronnies de Monastir, Acquafredda et Villaspeciosa. Il obtint qu'en 1627 aussi Villacidro fût élevé au rang de marquisat et en 1632 il acquit la seigneurie de Planargia des autorités fiscales. Ce fut le moment de la plus grande splendeur de la famille, par la suite le marquis Antonio a participé à la conspiration contre le marquis de Camarassa.
