Linetta is unique, Linetti has a stock in the Brescia area, in Brescia, Concesio, Palazzolo sull'Oglio and Flero, Lini has more autonomous stocks, between Brescia and Mantua, in Perugia, between the provinces of Rome and Velletri and in the Marche, Lino would seem originally from Palermo, they can derive, either directly or through a hypocoristic, from the Italian medieval name Lino, or from the apheresis of diminutives of names like Angelo, Paolo, Agnolo, Pasquale, etc. We find traces of these surnames in Pisa in an act of 1227: "... Actum Pisis in ecclesia Sancti Petri in Palude in consilio, presentibus Nicholo Lini et Symone Rustici camerariis Pisane civitatis et Guiscardo et Grasso Pisane civitatis cancellariis et Benencasanotario, testibus ad hec rogatis ... ".
