Pecis is a typical surname of Bergamo, Zanica, Trescore Balneario, Zandobbio and Bergamo, it may derive from the late Latin name Pecius, or Peccius, but it is also possible to derive from the medieval term pecis (pieces, land shares), probably to indicate in the progenitors of the landowners, we find a certain Iohannes Maria Pecis in 1656, a Iacobus Pecis in 1671, a Horatius Pecis in 1681, all holders of the Vicariate of the Val Brembana in Bergamo.
