PLUCHINO

Pluchino is typical of southern Sicily, of Ragusa in particular and of Ragusa and Modica above all, but also of Vittoria and Scicli, of Catania and Avola, Syracuse and Pachino in the Syracuse area, it could derive from the Italianization of the French medieval surname Ploukin, which would seem derived from the French medieval term pluquer (pecking), used particularly in Picardy, a region north of Paris, we recall Philippus Ploukin who became Procurator General in Paris in 1372.
