Família originária de Fontanile, que depois se espalhou para Casale Monferrato, Mântua e Alexandria. Ele tinha um cavaleiro de Malta, Fernando, em 1580, época em que a família já estava em um estado elevado. O progenitor conhecido é Gian Matteo, de Fontanile, já morto em 1539, pai de Ardizzino, senador (1545-62) e capitão-geral da justiça em Casale (1562). Seu filho Horácio comprou o feudo de Bruno dos Scarampi e recebeu um título nobre em 24 de março de 1588. Uma década depois, em 15 de abril de 1598, a briga foi erigida no município em favor de seu filho Ortensio, pretor de Mântua. e senador, morreu sem filhos. Ele foi sucedido por seu irmão Ardizzino (dec. 1617), governador de Trino, e como seu irmão, senador. Ortensio merece menção particular de seus filhos, que morreram indolentes em 1642 e investiram, em 11 de agosto de 1632, em Carentino; e Camilla Ardizzina,

D'oro, alla fata (Faa') mostruosa, passante sopra una pianura erbosa; il corpo e la testa coll'elmo in maestà, il tutto al naturale; essa fata avente la metà superiore di donna ignuda e scapigliata, colle ali di pipistrello, di verde, le gambe d'uccello palmipede e la coda di serpe, finiente in saetta (Ricon. 1898).
