shield divided into two equal parts by a horizontal straight line passing through the center; this line can be zigzag ("cuneato"), wavy ("wavy"), flame-like ("flaming"), long waves ("grafted"), battlements ("crenellated"), broken into a shape of echelon. It can also be said of a patch or other figure, instead of a shield.
